Fancy some extremely minimal iOS widgets, banners and notifications? Then you might want to give the FancyNC jailbreak tweak a try.
Achieve the Ultimate Minimal Look on iOS By Installing FancyNC – But it Might Be Slightly Overboard for Some Users
Personally, I don’t find anything wrong with how widgets, banners and the Notification Center look in iOS. Sure, a little lick of paint or a addition of few things may go a long way. But at the end, it gets the job done in the best possible manner, and there’s no arguing with that.
However, if you see yourself as someone who just can’t live without customizing every bit of iOS to your own liking, then you might consider moving things around a bit. You can do so by installing a tweak like FancyNC. What it basically does is, remove all the ‘unnecessary’ bits of UI from widgets, banners and the Notification Center, giving everything an extremely minimal look.
This minimalism is achieved by removing a lot of UI elements, even icons that show where a notification has originated from. On the widgets front, you’ll see no headers, no transparency effects, except for the vital information. Quite frankly, this is a bit too overboard for my own liking. But if you strive for minimalism, then this tweak is your best bet.
Interestingly, this tweak is absolutely free to download and use. Just head over to the BigBoss repo in Cydia, and grab it from there. There are no options to configure here, and everything will work once you have the package installed. It would have been great if there was a tweak ‘on’ or ‘off’ switch thrown into the mix, but hey, who are we to ask, right?
The tweak, in my opinion, really axes the ‘function’ bit from key places in iOS. But that’s the price you have to pay if you are going all out with your minimalist look plans. Still, if you mix the tweak with a wonderful looking theme and an icon pack, there’s a lot that can be achieved here. Maybe you’ll eventually end up with the ultimate jailbreak look.
