EVERETT COLLECTION; INSET: EVERETT COLLECTION

If Sylvester Stallone has his way, Adonis Creed will be getting some revenge in his next bout.

Over the weekend, the writer, director, and star of the Rocky franchise continued to tease the potential involvement of Dolph Lundgren as Ivan Drago in the sequel to Creed.

Sharing a picture of his notebook, Stallone wrote, “JUST DONE …. if you are curious, around 439 handwritten pages translates into about a 120 page typed screenplay …#writers cramp #rockybalboa #drago #adoniscreed #MGM.”

EW has learned Stallone is writing a script, but that’s not to say it will be thescript for a planned sequel. Stallone had been the credited writer on the first six entries in the franchise but ceded the duties on Creed to Aaron Covington and director Ryan Coogler. Coogler is a busy man with Black Panther and another announced reunion with Creed star Michael B. Jordan, so it seems like Stallone could possibly be taking back the reigns.

Over the last month, Stallone has not-so-subtly been hinting at Lundgren returning as the machine-like U.S.S.R. boxer Drago, who killed Creed’s father Apollo in the ring during Rocky IV.

Speaking in early 2016, Jordan said it would be “pretty cool” if the sequel had a bigger foe for his character. “Honestly in Creed 1 we didn’t have a real villain I don’t think,” he said. “So it would be kind of cool to have that antagonist character for Adonis to go up to and have some real animosity towards.”

Released in 2015, the seventh film in the iconic boxing franchise scored over $170 million at the box office and a Golden Globe win for Stallone, who was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards (he lost the Oscar to Bridge of Spies star Mark Rylance).
