Those who enjoy a bit of online word play are being encouraged to take their skills to the next level at a blogging workshop this month.

Start a Blog will be run by Writers’ Victoria tutor Karen Andrews in conjunction with the Goulburn Valley Writers’ Group.

GV Writers’ Group president Robyn Black said the workshop was not just for writers, but for anyone who had a hobby or an interest and wished to share it online.

‘‘It’s learning how to blog, so it could be about anything,’’ she said.

‘‘It’s not just about writing, it’s about learning to blog.’’

The workshop will be at Shepparton Library and there are 15 spots open to the public.

Ms Andrews has been blogging for 10 years and is an award-winning writer, author, editor, poet and publisher whose work has appeared in journals and publications across Australia.

‘‘Blogging can be a powerful platform to develop your voice, utilise your talents, develop skills and make connections with new readers,’’ Ms Andrews said.

Start a Blog will be on Saturday, September 16, from 10am to 4pm at the Shepparton Library, 41-42 Marungi St, Shepparton. Cost is $130 or $80 for GV Writers’ Group members or $70 for group member concession holders.

To register for the workshop, go to to www.writersvictoria.org.au/workshops choose calendar and type blogging into the search box and the workshop will come up.
