Actor Josh Brolin, who plays supervillain Thanos in the MCU, has revealed that the script for the untitled Avengers 4 is still going through final stages of polishing. The film, which was originally supposed to be part two of next year’s Avengers: Infinity War before they were separated, will still be helmed by the Russo Brothers, Joe and Anthony, with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely back again to write the treatment. The epic blockbuster is supposed to end the 22-movie story arc that the MCU has been treading for almost 10 years.
Not much is known regarding Avengers 4 as of yet – possibly because its narrative will be heavily influenced by the events of Infinity War. The title in itself is still tightly under wraps and everything is up in the air in terms of who will be there and what kind of story it will tread. Brolin himself has shared that Markus and McFeely are still probably doing some finishing touches on the script before everyone officially starts principal photography for the movie.

GMA caught up with the actor over the weekend while attending D23 Expo in Anaheim, California where he shared that even he does not know yet what will go down in the highly secretive Avengers 4:
“I haven’t done the second movie so I don’t know. I literally don’t know what the second script is. I don’t know if they’ve finished the second script, and that’s the truth. I think they’re in the midst of structuring and restructuring.”
Rewriting and restructuring the script, much like reshoots, is a normal concept in big budget films – especially one that has a cast as big as Avengers 4. The movie is supposedly filming back-to-back with Infinity War and with the latter reportedly finished (or at least at the tail-end of production), principal photography for its follow-up is due to start anytime soon. This also coincides with Marvel Studios’ shooting schedule, which pencils in the untitled movie’s filming kick-off this month with a target end-date of December. So it might not be too long before Markus and McFeely hand out the final script for the film.
Despite the lack of official news regarding the project, a recent casting rumor for the yet-to-be-titled Avengers movie points to the blockbuster reportedly casting Japanese extras who will play local mobsters also known as Yakuzas. Obviously, without context, it is difficult to pinpoint where exactly in the current MCU narrative these gangsters fit, but the Marvel Netflix series (specifically Daredevil and Iron Fist) have touched on the subject in their properties. In fact, the upcoming The Defenders series will heavily feature the most prominent Marvel version of the Yakuza in The Hand, operated by Sigourney Weaver’s main antagonist, Alexandra.
Meanwhile, before we all get wrapped up in the notion of Avengers 4, which is still two years away, let’s not forget that Avengers: Infinity War is less than a year away – and if the crowd reaction to the D23 exclusive trailer is any indication, it is poised to blow everybody’s mind. Once the film rolls out next May, we’re sure that Marvel will eventually deliver the official details for its follow-up.[“Source-screenrant”]
